Jerrylee is my biological nephew and has been a part of our family since birth! My husband and I fostered him from the time he was 5 1/2 months until a little after his 2nd birthday, at which point he went to live with his Grammy, my mother, due to "brotherly bickering".
He stayed with Grammy until he was almost four and during that time his parent's rights were terminated by DHS and he had to be adopted. Grammy adopted him when he was 3, and then, right before his 4th birthday, we all agreed what was best for Jerrylee.
MY BOY CAME BACK HOME! We were appointed as his legal guardians. Grammy received adoption assistance, which was passed on to us, and has been used for the usual expenses that come along with raising a child.
"Grammy" passed away on June 27th, 2014, leaving us behind to take care of the expenses associated with a death and Jerrylee with NO adoption assistance and NO Medicaid until he is adopted again.
Jerrylee always asks why he doesn't have our last name, we want to and are willing to adopt him, so let's make this happen fast! Let's make this family official!
