Emergency Surgery for Shadow

Story

Hi, my name is Heather and I’m reaching out for help for my best friend Shadow. He has a blockage in his intestines and needs emergency surgery to save his life. This wonderful, gentle, goofball is 2 years old, and he is a Dobie mix. He came into our lives a year ago when we adopted him, and has filled our lives with so much joy. Shadow is my Emotional Support Dog, and has made my life so much better from the very first day we brought him home. I have autism and PTSD, and my kids also have autism. When I’m having a flashback or a panic attack, Shadow lays beside me and puts his head on me. Petting his ears helps me ground myself and come out of it. When my kids are overwhelmed, they find comfort in petting him and getting his magic puppy kisses. I live alone, and throughout the day Shadow keeps me company and follows me everywhere. He really is like my shadow. After adopting him, my nightmares are mostly gone, and I can finally sleep peacefully because I know if anything was wrong he would tell me. Friends, Shadow is so full of life. He’s only just celebrated his second birthday. He has so many years ahead of him to chase tennis balls, hike, and convince the cat to love him. It is killing me because this is something that can be fixed, but I can’t pay for it because I’ve been out of work. I just want my boy to feel better, he means so much to me. There have been so many dark days behind me, and he has brought so much light. I am desperate for any help I can get for him. I am an artist, and I do small watercolor pet portraits.
