Chad's Heart Transplant Expenses

Donation protected

Chad Tittle has been battling Viral Cardiomyopathy (a virus that attacks the heart and causes great damage) since his diagnosis in 2006.  In the last ten years, UC Davis has saved his life many times --inclusive of two pacemaker surgeries prior to open heart surgery. He needs a heart transplant and help with the expenses.

We are so glad you are reading this -- he needs our help.

This is Chad's Story...

After his initial diagnosis in 2006, Chad was able to recover, return to school and graduate from college. Sadly, Chad's health started to decline again in 2013. After numerous doctor visits and several different medications to increase his heart strength, in May of 2015, Chad underwent open heart surgery and received a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD). This device took over the pumping of the left of his heart and has enabled Chad to function and perform daily tasks, as well as return to work while he awaits a heart from Stanford.

Chad’s left heart ventricle is recovering with the heart pump but his right heart ventricle remains weak. For Chad to thrive, he requires a heart transplant. He is currently on the list for a new heart (1B listed) with Stanford Hospital and hoping to be listed soon with Sutter Hopsital.

Chad’s medical and living expenses associated with getting a new heart will be extreme and of course he won't be able to work.  For the first three months post-heart transplant,  Stanford room and board alone will be $20,000 (a studio-sized living area in Stanford is easily  up to $6,000/month and this doesn't include the cost of food or medications).  This is not optional - staying close to the hospital is required for all transplant recipients. They will require Chad to have regular doctor visits and checkups to ensure his body is not rejecting the new heart and his health is improving.

Through all of this, Chad has remained optimistic and still brings a smile to many of his friends and family.  He looks forward to the future, getting married and raising a family. He explains that life doesn’t always deal you the best cards, but, you learn that it is short lived and every day alive should be spent happy and enjoying the people you're around. Anyone who knows Chad knows that he carries out these ideas with his actions - his humor, hard work, kindness and loyalty - just to name a few.

Chad is hoping that you can help in any way you can. He loves and appreciates all of his friends and family members and if there is anything you can donate to help him get back to a healthy heart and back to a normal life he wants to say -- Thank You.
