BMX'ing back from depression!

Donation protected
Ben Clarkson is a BMX racer from Cornwall, UK. During his career he has won multiple Regional & South West championships as well as British and National titles and he is also a former member of British Cyckings Olympic Development Programme.

In 2012 Ben had a really bad crash mid race at a National event which resulted in a severely broken arm needing 3 operations, plates and pins.

Having been told he may never race again and that the road to recovery was a very long one he became increasingly unhappy (unknown to everyone at the time) fast forward to 2015 and Ben and has now fiance Madii knew something was wrong and seemed the help of a professional therapist.

Unfortunately the therapy wasnt something Ben stuck to at the time and in 2016 Ben tried (and thankfully failed) to take an overdose of whiskey and prescription pills.

Ben has since got the help he so desperately needed from his GP and participates in regular sessions with his therapist. He has come on leaps and bounds and now the bad days are rare as opposed the good days being a rarity.

Ben is now eager to get back to the sport he loves and wants to educate others on mental health along the way, as well as helping Cornwalls young riders achieve their goals on the race track.

Any money raised will be put towards protective kit and race kit for Ben and 2 or 3 young members (still to be chosen) from Cornwall BMX club who Ben will support with training and kit etc.

Any help would be massively appreciated and you can keep up with Ben's journey back to racing via Instagram (benclarksonracing).

Thank you.
