Tragedy struck on August 20, 2020 at Blue Oven Bakery. The bakery where we do all of our major production for farmers' markets, restaurants, and grocery stores caught fire and burnt out of control, and the bakery did not survive. Fortunately, no staff were involved, and everyone on site was unharmed by the fire. Unfortunately, with our production out of commission we will not be able to attend farmers' markets or make deliveries this weekend and for an unforeseen amount of time. With limited capabilities at Findlay Market, and our bakery and equipment destroyed by the fire our campaign is to help get us back on our feet and back at those farmers' as soon as possible! While the rebuilding process will be ongoing for some time and with no immediate idea of the extent of our damages we're also looking to support our hardworking staff in whatever way we during the time of lower revenue.
The good news is that we will still be open at our Findlay Market location offering a very limited supply and variety of Blue Oven for walkup purchases only. You've supported us through thick and thin for the past 13 years, and once again we'll rely on your support at Findlay Market in order to make it through this difficult time. It is a great pleasure to serve our Blue Oven friends and family, and we hope to continue in as large a capacity as possible.
For those of you interested there has also been a GoFundMe set up for the family living above the bakery to help them get through this difficult time as they have also been displaced. You can contribute to them here: https://gf.me/u/ys3fmv . They worked incredibly hard and long hours as employees of Blue Oven and have always been a true part of the Blue Oven family. Though they're included in our fundraiser every extra dollar you can offer to them will go a long way in recovering from their own tragedy and the loss of their possessions.
Hopefully, we can get back to being the Blue Oven you know and love very soon, and for now we hope to see you at Findlay Market!
We appreciate donations of any size, and we're grateful so many people have expressed their support.
