The Emergency Services crew of Gardai, Ambulance, Fire Brigade & Civil Defence are coming together to support & promote a Co Kildare based organization which supports people through Mental health crisis with the offer of quality professional Psychotherapy & Holistic services. Originally set up as an response to the increase in Suicides, suicidal ideation, and self harming, they now see a real need for support for people in depression experiencing any one of lifes crisis or overwhelmed with anxieties & stresses of work/life balance.
They offer professional Counselling within 7 days, or less in case of emergencies. Currently the numbers through their door have tripled, yet they get no Government or HSE funding. 25% of their service users are adolescents, 18% over 55s, and the remainder being referrals through self, GP, Health Centres, Hospitals, Community Probation office, or Health nurses. Their existence has always depended on the generosity of the general public, which means that Newbridge, Naas and other surrounding areas have to benevolently come up with 'fundraising ideas' to keep their doors open. We are delighted that the amalgamation of our 'First response' teams, are respectfully giving HOPE(D) a 'helping hand' albeit it in the 'Boxing ring' - raising well needed funds to keep their doors open.
It has also come to our attention, that the building that has been their home for over 4 years is been sold, and an emergency meeting to raise funds is being held next week in the local Ryston Clubhouse to discuss alternatives.
