Blu has Acute T Cell A.L.L Leukemia

Donation protected
Anyone who knows us knows that Blu comes first. Blu is a soccer loving, lacrosse coaching, deer chasing, ground hog loving, and sunbathing type of lab. Blu doesn’t miss a soccer game in support of his dad! Blu supported his dad to a championship win in spring of 2021, where he stormed the field after the OT win!! He’s at every cookout those FCC boys have. He knows the right people to ask a hotdog for!! Blu has also supported his daddy at his club games, cheering from afar , in those bleachers!

He also doesn’t miss any club lacrosse practice (3 hot days a week in the summer!) with his mom!! This dog really love those girls. He might be laying in the 8 meter or in the goal though.. He also comes to every lax lesson and makes the girls day better by giving them a wet kiss! Secretly, going into mommy’s office is where he wags his tail the most. Those Mount girls give the best kind of love.

Being outside, having a ball in his mouth, being with his parents & teams is Blus ideal day. He also loves swimming and cuddling with his brother Myers, going to the dog park to play with all his friends , going to day camp, playing fetch with his human brother Brenden, and getting all types of cuddles and kisses from his family.

12/02/2017 was our “gotcha day” for Blu. We began to spoil the sweetest, calmest, and happiest chocolate lab you’ll ever meet. On 12/02/2021 our worlds were flipped upside down. Blu was diagnosed with Leukemia. At just age 4 this happy little pup was about to battle cancer.

It all started 11/27 when Blu had no appetite and began to vomit every couple hours while also having some diarrhea. We monitored him closely and did lots of resting. We thought maybe he was just sick. On 11/29 we took Blu to the vet for a physical exam. The doc explained how Blu felt and looked very good. The only concerning factor was he had lost 12lbs and still wasn’t eating. The doc gave Blu a shot and some take home medicine. We left with a sigh of relief.

The next 3 days Blu still didn’t want anything to eat. There was still no appetite.

We took Blu back to our primary vet on 12/02, where the next steps were to get some X-rays done of the abdomen. The thought process was maybe there’s a blockage in the tummy. Imaging was done , vet told us there wasn’t a blockage, but he saw something concerning enough to immediately refer us to the ER. The ER doctor had us first run some blood work where she found an extreme problem with his white blood cell count leading her to the diagnosis of leukemia. At 4:17pm on 12/02 , we were told our 4 year old happy pup has leukemia and that’s when the world stopped.

12/03 Blu is undergoing intense medicine. Ultrasound, more X-rays, bone marrow, and many more tests. We will find out today how bad the cancer is.

Blu just turned 4 in September. Many don’t think to have pet insurance on a dog that has always been healthy and is so young. We have registered for an insurance plan but we’re denied help with the cancer testing/ treatment due to the fact we weren’t pre existing members. Many of you who have pet insurance know, you have to hold the account for so many days before it becomes live. There also cannot be any pre existing health issues. We registered 12/01.. our account comes live 12/15.. since cancer was diagnosed 12/02 it’s reported as pre existing and insurance won’t help us.

From the run around with the shots, meds, imagining, to more X-rays, blood work, ultrasound, more test, and now specialists, we’re already $3,762 in. This doesn’t include the charges that will continue to grow today with more treatment and potential over night care. We know the amount will continuously grow.

We are asking for any help from anyone who can give. Our goal is fight and bring our baby home.

The cost of chemotherapy for the year ranges between $9000-$10,000. We would like to be able to keep up with these costs and that’s why we are reaching out to you! Our goal is set at $7,000 and any donation is greatly appreciated. Any little bit helps tremendously.

We will continue to update the site as we get updates.Thank you everyone for your kind words and messages.

Please hug your loved ones tight. Hug your pets even tighter.
