Need Vet Help for Homeless Cats!

Donation protected
When I initially began this campaign, it was to spay/neuter and provide medical care for the stray cats and kittens in the field behind our home.  At the height of the poplation, before we started seeing a change, there were 23 cats and kittens bounding around.  I figured the $1250 would be enough to complete that goal, but I underestimated the amount of cash that medical care was going to require.  I also underestimated the amount of time that this situation was going to continue, along with the extra added problem of not being able to catch some cats who continue to breed and have new kittens. Now we realize that our need for assistance may not allow us to put an actual amount onto our need for funds.  As the problems continue, we wish to be there to continue helping these poor, innocent, abandoned creatures.

This year (2016) has brought forth a new problem...a poisonous spider invasion, if you will.  These spiders are biting all of the cats, but it's the youngest of kittens who's health is being seriously effected by these bites.  RIght now we are continuing veterinary care for Gatsby, who was bitten so seriously that he became virtually paralyzed from the infection and swelling that came along with his bites.  He was on his side for nearly 4 weeks, unable to move any of his limbs.  Now he is walking again, and it's all due to the patience, kindness, and generosity of our wonderful pool of donors here at Blondmyk's Kitties.  (NOTE:  He has since suffered a setback with very high fevers and  what the vet is calling a "very stubborn blood infection" so even though he's walking, his vet bills continue)  We now are beginning on Gatsby's sister, Clara, who is suffering from many bites as well, but has not been as damaged by them as Gatsby.  I have to admit that I admire her tolerance for pain though, as she's thoroughly chewed up yet has managed to keep her happy, kitten-like joy for living life.  (UPDATE:  She too is suffering from the same blood infection as Gatsby now and experiencing fevers as high as 105 degrees on a daily basis.)

Please help if you can.  The original mission still stands...to spay and neuter all of these cats and to get the population back under control.  Your help and support is invaluable to us.

BACKGROUND--We have a horrible problem in Corpus Christi with our homeless pet population, and my home in itself has it's own set of problems.

I live in an apartment in Flour Bluff, Tx, a suburb of Corpus Christi.  Behind our apartment is an empty lot, and it has become a haven for the homeless cat population.  Now, I LOVE cats and I have tried my level best to try to watch over them as much as I can, but it has become nearly impossible lately.  I am but a single man on disability, and food and medical expenses-- including spaying or neutering these cats, is a financial impossibility.  Because of that the population keeps growing and growing, and I find myself needing to ask for help from you kind folks out there.

What was once three cats has now become 9, and at least 4 of these just delivered a litter of kittens.  Last month a new cat appeared, mange ridden and looking horrible, and I fear that whatever it is that he has is spreading.  I NEED HELP--and He needs help!!  Lucky for me, there are low cost spay/neuter clinics in the area, but I have NO money to take these cats in, and there is NO place to go for emergency medical help, like the kind I need for the mange ridden cat.

Local no-kill shelters, which I have contacted dozens and dozens of times for help are ALWAYS full.  Fliers posting free kittens at vets offices or bulletin boards around town go unanswered.  It's very frustrating.  I've recently found out that kittens placed on "Craigs List" are often gathered and used for shark bait.  I cannot tolerate that, so I have to find another way to work.

So here, I come to you generous folks with my dilemma.  Won't you please help me with taking care of these kitties?   I've tried my best to keep them from going feral, and I'm sure that with your help I can finally have the time I need to find them homes if I could just get them spayed or neutered.

We have opened a community on Facebook for folks who are interested or who have donated to the campaign to follow if they have continued interest.  Please put https://www.facebook.com/Blondmyks-Rescue-Kitties-867411339987160/ into your
