Blondie’s emergency room fees

Hi! I’m an actor and audiobook narrator. Some of you may know me by the name Umi Markkanen.
Yesterday, December 15th 2023, I brought my 4 year old cat Blondie to the emergency vet because she was showing signs of constipation. I thought we were going to be there for a quick but pricy enema, but now it’s 24 hours later and they’ve told me they are keeping her for another 24 hours. Poop, Blondie, Poop!!
Blondie is a special girl. My partner and I took over her care when she was just a couple months old because her previous owner didn’t understand why she couldn’t walk and was in so much pain. She was diagnosed with rickets type B1 which is so rare that I had to give her blood away to 5 different vets before we found out what is up with her. Her body does not produce its own calcium or vitamin D, so her bones grew in an unorthodox way. Her pelvis grew slightly tilted, which makes it difficult for her to go to the bathroom normally and any constipation she encounters can be seriously dangerous, as we are now experiencing.
Knowing this, we enrolled her with pet insurance under nationwide pet, which I discovered this morning was cancelled in October, despite me being up to date with payments.
It’s a tough time of year to be brought up short like this. We are still waiting on the final estimate from the doctors, but at this point we know the total will be around $5,000. This sum includes her hospitalization fees, X-rays, fluids, medications, and blood tests.
Any support of any amount would be greatly appreciated by both me and Blondie.
