Block-M Initiative for Barry Z

Thank you so much for considering to donate to this cause, which is a gift to the MMB Block M Initiative in honor of Barry Zeltzer, an alumnus from the MMB tuba section, Class of 2017. He unexpectedly passed away this week, and we as a Tubahood think it would be a wonderful way to commemorate him by dedicating a space on the MMB's Block-M sponser wall in his name.
For those of you who didn't know Barry Zeltzer, he was a tuba player in the MMB starting in our 2013 season, and he was always willing to hang out and just have a beer on the Tuba House porch. He had just graduated this year with a degree in Biochemistry that enabled him to get a job working in the labs at the University of Michigan Medical School, where he started this past summer. It was on Tuesday, Sept 5th at his job that he unexpectedly had a seizure and was taken to the hospital. Though they were able to revive him, he was found to have sizable previously-unknown brain tumor, as well as additional brain damage from the seizure. When he was found to have zero brain activity, they felt it was time to take him off life support and put him to rest. The Tubas are aiming to raise enough money to honor Barry through the Block-M Initiative that raises money for the Michigan Marching Band so we can be reminded of the great times we had when Barry joined our band family, and so his family knows that the band will remember him always. If you are able to contribute, we thank you for your help in celebrating Barry's life this way!
I'm was a senior tuba player in the band when Barry joined our section in the Michigan Marching Band as a freshman. After talking with the band fund raising team and Barry's family, they decided that donating to the Block M Initiative would be a wonderful way to honor him, and then have all additional funds go towards a scholarship in his name for future marching band members that embody his desire to help everyone around him become the best marcher and player they could be.
