Because of the movement (and funding), Trent University has set up an Anti-Racism Task Force, along with an equity and inclusion subcommittee. Anti-Racism workshops, discussions, and seminars were held and continue to be held on campuses including Flemming College. We got the board and councilman to start engaging with ideas around defunding the police and providing safe spaces for BIPOC individuals though it wasn't received in a positive way. Yet the conversation has started and the seed has been planted. We just need to continue to water and tend to our gardens. We are still learning how to sustain a movement and honestly, things are happening organically in the most incredible way.

We want to do more and I would like to hear some of your ideas as this not about the executive's decision as to what that work completely entails. We want to hear from you in the comment section what your think we as BLM Nogo can do to keep a good rapport and build stronger communities.

After a successful rally on June 2nd, 2020. The organizers of the march want to use that momentum to keep the BLM movement alive and active in the city of Nogojiwanong/Peterborough.

We will be using these funds to first and foremost pay back BIPOC  who spent personal money on the day of the rally to ensure we had the supplies we needed.

The remaining funds will be used to create future events, and potentially support BIPOC in the community. We are hoping to create an emergency fund for BIPOC artists and community members in Nogojiwanong/Peterborough.

Because this is a grassroots movement and we only just started we are slowly working around our regular schedules to bring our vision alive. Our goal is to replicate the goals of other BLM sects (see BLM Toronto) but with more specific actions we want to take place in Nogojiwanong/Peterborough.

We also want to remain as transparent as possible and be a group of people for the people. If you have any questions, feel free to ask us and join our official Facebook group to keep yourself updated as we bring this incredible journey. If you cannot donate monetarily we ask that you please share this post with your friends and family.

Thank you.
