Black Lives Matter Community Events!

Donation protected

My name is Jason C Peters and I am a black New York fashion designer. I  have been fighting for justice and equality since I was a young child. I am very passionate about the black lives matter movement including being very active in the recent protests in NYC and around the United States.

In a society where black beauty and black art are appropriated more than appreciated, I am passionate about giving both the recognition they deserve. My next event is October 2020 in Manhattan New York, I’m hosting a fashion show to celebrate every shape, size, age, shade, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and different abilities found within the black community. Because ALL black lives matter.

Not only will there be a fashion show; we will also be distributing brand new clothing, shoes, backpacks, toiletries, toys, as well as food to the thousands and thousands of  people who are homeless here in New York City. The homeless should not be treated like second class citizens; they deserve love, compassion, community, nourishment, and a sense of dignity just like the rest of us. And If I’ve learned anything from the previous two events I’ve held, it’s that when our community comes together for the greater good, we can move mountains to provide for those of us in need. To wrap the day up, there will be a Black Lives Matter rally and march to ensure our voices continue to be heard by the NYPD, our local and state government, and our nation.

With that being said, I’m raising funds to purchase everything that will be distributed at the event. Whether you’re able to donate $5 or $500, your contribution makes a difference! Because it’s not just one drop of water that creates a flood- but every single drop counts. It’s my mission to make sure EVERYONE in the black community feels seen, safe and loved. These events will be organized monthly because black joy is one of the most powerful forms of resistance, and it’s an excellent way to serve those experiencing housing insecurity in NYC. I hope to organize them around the United States as well! Thank you in advance for your contributions to this cause; it means the world to me. Hope to see you there!

Pictured below are also some of the photos from the clothing drive at the event where the underserved and those in need were able to take whatever they needed for free. We also had racks full of clothing and would replenish the racks with other items as people would choose pieces and take what they needed. It was a beautiful moment seeing so many people smile knowing that someone cared enough about them to provide them with all essential items that are important to someones everyday life. The money raised will go to allowing myself to purchase all new clothing, shoes, accessories and more for all to take! The photos below are by Noam from Getty Images.
