Hello, everyone, and thanks for visiting my page! This fundraiser is closed now, but I have a separate fundraising campaign solely for my flight expenses! gofundme.com/elygl0
My name is Anthony, and I'm planning to return to Tanzania from October 12th to 28th to embark on another water project. This will be my second trip in 2 years, and I'm extremely excited to be going back.
As some of you might know, water is a very scarce resource in parts of Tanzania. The women that fetch the water typically have to travel great distances multiple times a day to fetch water from either a natural spring filled with bacteria, mosquitoes and dirt, or from a well that is in great need of repair. I've seen firsthand how difficult of a trek it is to carry a huge bucket of water on top of your head in the blazing sun for 20 minutes. Believe me, it's not easy! A lot of time can be saved if there's a well built closer to the village.
The organization I work with, E.P.I.C.(Everyday People Initiating Change) has been making the trip to Tanzania for a decade. I was fortunate enough to make the trip in July of 2012, and it has completely changed my life. Seeing the effect that water has on an entire village is something I can't put in words. It's absolutely amazing.
The exciting part of this trip is that unlike the first, it will be a fellowship program that allows me to have my own team of partners that will branch out in different areas and villages, and each team will be able to implement their own water project after a week of training with the founders of E.P.I.C., Alexi and Tennille.
The $2,950 that I'm hoping to raise by October 12th will go towards the costs of my team's in-country expenses. These include travel within Tanzania, lodging, food, project costs(materials, testing, labor, implementation), training (educators, training materials) Team leader payment, as well as funds to cover 5 years of maintenance for each water project.
I hope you find it in your heart to give to such a great cause. Thanks for your time and consideration. Maji ni maisha! "Water is life!"
