Bliss Body: A tribute to Colin Ward

Donation protected
Bliss Body will be an event held to celebrate the life, work, aesthetics, and politics of our "beloved son,  best friend, poet,  infinite riffer, living Nickelodeon TV show,  16th Street Mall busker, favorite bandmate, political hero, DIY advocate, supreme creative collaborator, soulmate" our inspirational teKno Cheata-  Colin Ward.

Bliss Body will be the first retrospective of Colin's otherworldy body of work! The event will be at Black Cube headquarters on March 10th. We will exhibit  Colin's large scale paintings, and video work, as well as installation and musical tributes.  We are holding this event in Colin's honor but in all honesty it will really benefit all of us in the Denver DIY community and beyond as it provides us an opportunity to see the artistic legacy of Colin Ward.

Colin Richard Ferguson Ward was the epitome of DIY art making and all it stands for. His life was prolific output, and the consistent drive to build a community for those in the fringe. Unfortunately, Colin lived in a world unfriendly to artists and culture makers, and much of his suffering was directly related to his struggle for place and space.

We are raising funds to pay for the event -  food, art installation, and material costs. Any extra funds not spent on this event will go to the CRFW fund . These donations will be used to support the archival and exhibition of the large volume of Colin's work in all his chosen mediums, as well as to provide support for causes and art efforts reflecting his vision for a free and open society.

This event will focus on remembering Colin and to draw inspiration from his memory in looking forward at what we can do to honor his wishes for the world. We will be raising funds at the event to archive and republish his work, and to create a general fund in his name to sustain DIY artmaking and artists in Denver. We will be calling the community to action towards affordable living in denver; for the sustainment of culture in the midst of gentrification. We will dance, be together and hear performances and words spoken by myriad artists about Colin and how we can sustain his impact upon the world.
