Blindspotting The Bronx

The South Bronx is part of New York's 15th Congressional District and is consistently the poorest district per capita in the United States. In the city's poorest neighborhoods of Morrisania and Crotona (zip code 10456 in the Bronx), 44 percent of the residents live below the federal poverty level—the highest poverty rate in the city. The population is nearly 100,000, and 99% of the residents are Black and Latino. The median age range is 20-30 years old.
The only thing people expect from my neighborhood is violence, and we have definitely had more than our fair share. But, there is more here than statistics. I believe that if you change what you see, then what you see will change. I reviewed this movie at an advanced screening and it is EPIC! It speaks to my community and has the power to change what and how we see it.
