I met my best friend Brittany in the third grade, and as long as I've known her, she has been one the kindest and most genuine people I know, which is why I wanted to start this page for her. Let me tell you a little bit about Brittany and her life story.
When Brittany and I were in the fifth grade, both of our mothers were diagnosed with cancer. Although Brittany and I were in the same class, we weren't very close until that year, and that is thanks to the kindness Brittany showed me.
When Brittany found out about my mother's diagnosis, she came up to me before class, hugged me, and said, "We will get through this together." As an eleven year old terrified even of the word "cancer", this simple phrase stuck with me all these years. This one scenario perfectly embodies Brittany's character and how she chooses to treat other people.
We were just two eleven year olds with sick moms, terrified of what the future might hold. But, although our situations at the time seemed the same, they couldn't have turned out to be more different.
My mother went through her treatments and was confirmed as cancer-free in November of 2013. However, that wasn't the case for Brittany's mom Michelle.
Michelle's cancer was continuing to thrive throughout her body. Once they got rid of it, it just came back. The vicious disease loved where it was, and it didn't want to leave. In fact, it still hasn't.
Six years later, Brittany's mother is still fighting the unrelenting battle against her cancer. Can you imagine? Six years of surgeries, chemo, and being poked and prodded at by "professionals" who never seem to have the right answer. I can't imagine going through that. I also can't imagine watching my mother go through that. Brittany has practically grown up watching her mother go through the toughest battle imaginable, and somehow, she has turned out to be one of the happiest people I know. She comes to school every morning with a smile on her face, she's hardly ever in a bad mood, and she treats the people around her with unconditional love and kindness, even if it's not reciprocated. She is strong, loyal to a fault, and the greatest friend anyone could ask for. These are all reasons why I created this page for her.
This year is Brittany's and my senior year. We have grown up in our school together, and it means the world to the both of us to finish out our education with each other and our friends. School itself is very important to Brittany. She studies and works her hardest to obtain good grades, and last year it paid off with her finishing out the year with all A's all four quarters. She works harder than anyone else I know, including myself, and I believe that she deserves free tuition for her last year of high school.
With six years of treatment comes six years of medical bills. I don't really want to do the math, but as you can imagine the costs are most likely insufferable. That is why I have created this page. Paying for all or even part of Brittany's tuition for her senior year of high school
would take such a tremendous burden off of Brittany's parents. That way they can focus on the medical bills and other things and not need to worry about the extra expenses for Brittany's tuition. I whole-heartedly believe that there is no other person as deserving for this as Brittany. With your help, I would love to give back to someone who has selflessly thought of everyone else for years.
