Blessings for Barbie

Hello to all our friends: We know you haven’t heard much from us for a while.  We have been dealing with the greatest challenge of our lives and events have been moving so fast that sometimes it has been hard to “catch our breath” so to speak.

In December, 2017, Barbie developed a cough.  At first it looked like a common respiratory bug – and then it became more serious. Ultimately, she developed pneumonia and was treated for that.  Then in quick succession she had the flu and bronchial infection and then seemed to have what appeared to be asthma like  symptoms. This was puzzling since Barbie has always been very healthy.  Nebulizers were prescribed we purified the air and humidified it in our home and did a number of other things to no avail.

The doctor’s appointments were a blur.  During this time, I shut down my handyman general contracting business to help run the day-care so Barb could rest.

Finally, after a number of tests, CT scans and a liver biopsy, we were shocked to find that Barbie had multiple tumors in her body that were determined to be Adenocarcinoma “cancer of the intestine”.  Pathology reports and an oncology review showed that the cancer had started in her colon, spread to her Ovaries and metastasized in her liver.  We met with her oncologist and found that they could offer her no cure through conventional means and that surgery was not a viable option.  We were in total shock!

Recently, we have met several individuals who had acute liver and uterine cancer and were given no hope of a cure.  These folks aggressively followed natural and alternative means for fighting the cancer. One of the men is 7 years past diagnosis, now doing well, and the other person is 9 years past diagnoses.  We were encouraged and began our own discovery processes to find out how best to fight this disease.  We found a number of potent ways to rebuild Barbie’s body’s natural defenses and to destroy the cancer.

We believe however, that our ultimate defense is prayer and of Christ healing power.  Earnest prayers for God’s healing touch have been prayed in her behalf and that God’s purposes for her life would be fulfilled in every way.

We realize that we are walking a very steep mountain toward recovery with many hurdles, financial and otherwids, but we know and see so many ways how God is with us even in the darkest of times.  We closed the daycare and began the process of moving out of our house so that I could fix it up and we could sell it.  Temporarily, we are blessed to be living with family.  In the months ahead I am focused on Barbie’s recovery. 

During these last several months, the outpouring of cards, notes of encouragement, prayers, people helping us move and assisting with some of the repairs and renovations, have lifted our hearts more than you can ever know.  Our life has been so intense that we haven’t even had the time to write or call each of you to say how much we appreciate your love and support.
