This is Alaina. She is 12 years old. She is battling brain cancer for the 2nd time and has an ongoing battle with skin cancer.
Alaina was diagnosed with medulloblastoma when she was 3. She battled for 2 years and was in remission for 5 years. In July 2017, a high-grade glioma tumor was found and removed from her brain. It spread to other parts of her brain and spine.
Alaina endured many weeks of radiation treatment and is going through a year of chemotherapy. Her prognosis is terminal.
Radiation and chemotherapy will shrink her cancer, however it will come back. After many consultations, in addition to traditional treatments, we are treating Alaina with alternative medicine. Doctors out in California have found that if a child with Alaina's specific type of cancer can tolerate an adult dosage of this alternative medication, and can get ahead of the cancer, it can be cured. They have many cases that have proven so.
Unfortunately, this alternative medication is not covered by insurance. Every 3 and a half months, we have to pull together $3,000 for a refill.
