Help for Margaret Blake

Hi! My name is Brittany Blake and I am raising funds for my mom, Margaret Blake.
Today, May 20th, 2019, marks 2 months since my dad, Mike Blake, died unexpectedly from complications following double bypass surgery (CABG – Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting). During the 21 days that dad was in the hospital, he spent 17 of them in the ICU and 7 of them on continuous dialysis due to acute kidney failure.
The week before his death, dad was in an altered mental state due to possible seizure activity, a probable lack of oxygen getting to his brain, and limited blood flow because of the heart surgery.
Simply put, my dad was the greatest man I have ever met. He was a volunteer firefighter and paramedic for the Ovilla Fire Department for over 20 years. Later in life, he became a registered nurse to continue his skill of caring for others. After working in different fields of nursing, he became a hospice nurse. This was definitely his calling and he considered his passion for hospice work to be a ministry.
Unfortunately, dad was forced to leave his hospice career in 2017 because of mounting health complications. He began receiving disability payments at the time, but because of his age, he was ineligible for Social Security.
When Dad died, the disability payments stopped abruptly, and there was no life insurance. Consequently, my mom, Margaret, is struggling financially as her household income has been reduced by 60%.
Overall, we’re trying to raise funds to pay for dad’s outstanding medical bills not covered by insurance (we are trying to negotiate these, too), to help my mom with household expenses for the next 6 months as she tries to reduce some of her monthly expenses, and to help pay for Mom’s out-of-pocket medical expenses related to her newly diagnosed eye problems.
My sister and I are trying to help as much as possible, but we are limited in our ability to do so. We appreciate any assistance during this time of need. Thank you and may God bless you.
