Blessing Bags for Nurses
A couple weeks ago I was talking to a local Emergency Department Nurse here in Cary, North Carolina. When I asked how things were at the hospital she responded "they are bad - really bad. Everyday we have multiple nurses in tears. It's just a really stressful time and people are really sick!"
As the numbers of COVID-19 cases continue to rise across the state of North Carolina hospitals are getting crowded. Emergency rooms are forced to hold admitted patients in the Emergency Department until other hospital patients are discharged to free up beds. Nurses are having to treat new incoming ER patients in the hallways. Emergency rooms are already busy, stress filled places when our country isn't fighting a pandemic. Those stress and anxiety levels are amplified now and our healthcare heroes could use some community support.
After speaking with my friend I knew I needed to do something. She shared with me how food was delivered and there was an outpouring of community support when NC first went into a stay at home order back in March however now that many are back to work and resuming some semblance of normalcy that community outreach and support has significantly slowed and basically stopped. More than ever our healthcare workers need to see and feel that community behind them and supporting them.
I have partnered with Suzzane Tarry owner and founder of Olive Tree Blessing Bags. Olive Tree Blessing Bags is a nonprofit (501c3 - all donations are tax deductible) committed to sharing encouragement, appreciation, and relaxation, with our country’s essential and community workers.
Olive Tree Blessing Bags are just that - Blessing Bags! Each blessing bag is filled with self care luxuries for men and women: Small luxury lotions, soaps, powders, bath bombs, lip balms, shaving balms, scented candles, luxury face lotions and aftershaves, spa masks, and anything that would help someone relax after a long day!
We are raising money in hopes to put together and deliver 500 bags to local hospital nurses to show our support and appreciation for all they do for our families, friends, and neighbors. I hope you will consider joining me to make a difference in our local community. Any donation will help make an impact (it only costs about $6 to put together one bag)!
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with any additional questions and I encourage everyone to visit www.olivetreeblessings.com for more information about this amazing new nonprofit.
