Hello friends and family,
My mom, Rita, along with my sister, baby nephew, & their puppy Lucy were involved in a terrible car accident on Tuesday morning (August 20th, 2024). If you know my mom, then you will know my Nana (Laura) passed away in a terrible car accident years ago. Myself and my sister Jaylah were also involved in this crash so when I got the call Tuesday morning my heart absolutely sunk hearing Eva cry out “Leilani come to the hospital….car crash… mom!!!” It breaks my heart seeing my sweet strong momma in this traumatic situation especially given the trauma and emotions that we’ve already experienced due to car accidents.
She drives a small Kia and was T-boned by a large dually truck. When the car came to a stop after being hit Eva jumped out of the car, opened the back door to grab my nephew and Lucy, scared and confused, ran out and is now missing.
Eva and my nephew are sore but suffered no major physically injuries. My mom took all of the impact on her side of the car. She suffered 2 painful fractured ribs, an agonizing fractured collarbone, along with a punctured and partially collapsed lung. These injuries combined made it super uncomfortable and extremely difficult breathe. She had surgery to remove the bone fragment and a chest tube was placed to remove the extra air in her torso cavity causing intense pressure to her other organs. She has since been in recovery and despite a totaled car, multiple injuries, and her fur baby being lost, she’s still cracking jokes and smiling in her hospital bed with what strength she has mentally and physically. In her words… “you know they can’t keep me down, I’ll get right back up!!”
God had multiple angels surrounding her car, protecting their lives. I am so thankful that my nephew, sister, and momma are here with us today. Rita is the strongest woman I know. This crash is an add-on to several stressful situations she’s been pushing through at this time in her life but nothing will hold her down.
I have never done anything like this, we work hard for what we need/want. Now my momma needs a blessing in her life and I’m reaching out to you all for help. Every single penny counts. At one point in your life think of how my mom has made a positive impact on your life, whether that be life advice, kind words, a big hug, motivational words, or putting a smile on your face.
Our family will appreciate any help provided ❤️
