Well over 10 years ago, Mike began his battle with cancer. From his initial struggle with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, to a later development of bone marrow cancer, he has overcome many obstacles all while keeping a positive and upbeat attitude and outlook on life.
Until now, Mike has been blessed to maintained a job and support himself through all the difficult and straining treatments and surgeries he has endured these many years.
Mike underwent a bone marrow transplant on April 30, 2014. This requires years of convalescence and inability to work - pushing himself during this time can put his body at risk of rejecting the donor material. His insurance company recently denied his long term disability benefits. He is appealing the decision, but the appeal process is long and tedious and this leaves him with Cobra payments of $500 a month and other living expenses to be paid monthly until he recovers and can once again return to work.
Mike has always been such an inspiration of hope and optimism to his friends and family - No matter the struggle he always has a smile and an uplifting word to help others. Now it is our turn to help him in his time of need.
