Blankets From Me to You

It’s that time of year folks! As the cold days are emerging amongst us, many individuals don’t have the luxury of coming home to warmth or a roof over their heads. This is especially problematic in Vancouver. Vancouver, as of this past April has had a 30% increase of homeless individuals since the last count, which had taken place in 2015. Not only do these individuals not have any access to basic shelter, they are lucky if they get one small portion of food a day. Many of them go hungry for days on end, before they are able to get a small meal of some sort. Most don't have warm clothes and sleep on the streets with their only source of warmth being very little scraps of clothing on cardboard boxes and plastic garbage bags. This year, “Blankets From Me to You”, will once again be raising money to help provide these individuals with some basic necessities. Last year, we were fortunate enough to raise a a little over $1600, surpassing our set goal by quite a bit. Hand made blankets, alongside sweaters, toques & gloves, warm sandwiches were given out on Christmas day putting a smile on these individuals faces. This year we hope to do the same, but a little different. Opposed to making the blankets, we will be purchasing the already made blankets. Also included will be kits composed of basic necessities, and just like Christmas 2016, we will distribute food and drinks. Remember, giving is the true meaning of Christmas. All donations help.
