Blake's Forever Home

Every parent dreams of a normal life for their children.  Unfortunately, that is not always what actually happens in life.

Blake was diagnosed with developmental disabilities and Autism as a 5 year old child.  He was an active part of his family and school. However, things changed and as he grew it became apparent that he couldn't manage daily activities at school or at home.  His disability made it difficult for him to handle the mainstream schools so he went to a school for kids like him with special needs. These schools are good but they have age limits.

Blake has "aged out" of this type of care and support.   Blake, and with others with disabilities often share homes and staff. Sadly, these people often live in substandard homes preyed upon by shady landlords who neglect upkeep and/or don’t pay the bills on the rented house.

Because of this, Blake and his family have struggled to keep a consistent roof over his head.  He has had to move a number of times due to circumstances out of his or his parent’s control. He has not been afforded the stability of being able to stay in a  home and never be evicted.

Change is one of the hardest things for Blake to deal with on an everyday basis.  To avoid this continual stress and upheaval, Blake's parents have managed to purchase "Blake's forever home".  That is a blessing that everyone is thankful for. However, this comes with its own different kind of difficulties - the needs of making general updates to the house that would be needed for anyone to live there along with making it workable for Blake, his roommates, and caregivers along with the house and utility payments are a burdensome.  Within seven days after purchasing the house (even with inspections and all) water appeared in the basement. It’s those types of things - maintaining the house, supplying things to ensure it stays safe and secure. How to pay for new things that arise, the  purchasing of a washer and dryer that can handle the load of multiple daily loads of laundry, and now repairs to the foundation are certainly not covered in Blake’s budget putting these added expenses back on his parents.

The goal of this fundraiser is to raise enough funds so Blake's Forever Home can address any monthly payments or repairs needed.  This fund will give hime the financial security to never have to move again and ensure he always has a safe home environment.

This kind of stability will not only be a blessing to Blake but also to his entire family and all the people who love him.

We are grateful for any support that you are able to offer.
