Blair Crew Launches First Summer Appeal

Please donate today to help us capture $10,000 in matching funds. All donations through Labor Day (Sept. 5) will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000. This is the moment to transform Blair Crew for our rowers this year and for years to come. We can only do this with your generous help today.

Through this summer appeal and a year-long campaign, we have set a goal to raise $28,000 for immediate team needs. Funds raised will support 3 full scholarships for students from across Takoma Park and Silver Spring for whom cost of participation is a barrier to entry ($6,500); two sets of oars ($8,500), a launch motor ($3,000), a new men’s 4+ shell ($10,000) and two cox boxes ($1,000).

Students say they benefit from the mental focus and physical fitness achieved as well as the enjoyment of being outside on the river. Rowing develops leadership and teamwork in high schoolers, and many Blair team members have gone on to row at the collegiate level, sometimes with athletic scholarships.
