Blackwater Community School - Counselling Services

My name is Geraldine Lacey and I am fundraising for Blackwater Community Secondary School in Lismore Co. Waterford. I will be running the Dublin City Marathon as a member of the West Waterford Athletics club on Sunday 30th October 2022. All funds raised will be allocated to the Blackwater Community School to provide private counselling support from an external agency to students when required.

Post Covid time, the demand on counselling support at a national level has increased significantly. In the Blackwater Community School, they have two guidance counsellors on site but externally provided counselling support is also required due to the big demand on these services in the past number of years.

I am fundraising for a personal reason, as I lost my wonderful and beloved brother John in July. No words can describe the deep and devastating impact his loss has had on me and on all the Cahill/McGrath families, friends, neighbours and wider community. Therefore, I would like to assist our local community by providing funds to assist the Blackwater Community School with external counselling supports. The cost of providing these services has put significant strain on the financial resources on the school. Therefore, no matter how little you can donate, every penny counts and I will be extremely grateful for all your support.
