Black'n Natural History Museums Support & Advocacy

Update:

We have raised our goal to $15000.  After making our goal for building our website (https://www.blackinnhms.org),  at this time we would like to continue raising funds to build our non-profit beyond the current social media event. We have gotten our 501c(3) approval and are completing paperwork to set up aspects to operate as such. We appreciate your support so much-especially during these insecure times. If you are on twitter, please follow us at @BlackInNHMs where you can check out our social media platform (https://twitter.com/BlackInNHMs).

Thank you !!!

Background:

Inspired by the many Black-in-X weeks on twitter, we plan to organize an online event to engage Black in Natural History Museum professionals. During the week we hope to inspire many Black professionals to reimagine their relationship with the biodiversity of our planet, while highlighting career opportunities in museums and related fields.

Currently, the Black in Natural History Museums group is fundraising to construct a professional website as a resource for our community-and the community at large!

Our group's vision is to provide community, group support, science education, and networking for Black folx involved in Natural History Museums. We want to have a central landing place on the web to provide information and create exposure for our community.

For our website we envision :

1) Professional database for networking and connecting Black folx

2) Science Spotlights

3) Educational Resources

4) Career Resources

5) Virtual Events

What will the funds be used for?

We will hire a professional web designer to construct our website. **All of the money will go to this effort.**

Date of campaign:

July 12th - August 16th 2021
