Help Robin Intern at Cannes Lions!!

Donation protected
WHAT:
I am a freelance filmmaker who has just been selected to participate in the 2018 Creative Minds In Cannes Program.  The Program takes place June 18-June 22nd during Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity and is an opportunity for me to intern with a Hollywood film company throughout the duration of the festival.

The funds raised will be used to help pay for the program tuition and fees. I need to raise as much as I can  although it may seem like a tall task, any amount donated will be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Unlike many other filmmakers, I have not had formal training in film school and have just been pooling together my resources to create content, with a focus on representing queer people of color in film.  In 2017, I made my debut into the film industry with the creation of the short film Garden of Eden  which shed light on a number of topics such as LGBT youth homelessness, parenting gay children, and toxic masculinity. Please visit the film's Facebook page to learn more.

WHY:
Having the ability to participate in the Creative Minds program would mean an opportunity to grow as a filmmaker, with the intent of producing content by and for the QPOC community which is grossly underrepresented in the film industry. The content I produce is also created in an effort to start conversations about the issues that affect  minority groups and engage communities to make a lasting impact on social change.

SUPPORT IN THIS ENDEAVOR WOULD MEAN THE WORLD TO ME!

Please find the application video that got me the internship below:

CURRENT PROJECTS:
Currently I am working on a few different projects all focused on diversity in film and media and promoting thought provoking conversations on important minority issues.

1. LGBT Youth & Family Initiative:
The “Bridging the Gap,” Initiative will create positive conversations about parenting gay children through a series of quarterly panel discussions. The objective is to start a healthy dialogue between youth/young adults, and parents about coming out. Support groups will also be held to reinforce best practices in communication and change the narrative of our youth’s coming out experience.

2. "Problematic": This project will begin shooting in the next couple days in New York and is a scripted series that chronicles the lives of two QPOC millennials living in gentrified Harlem. (trans male lead).

3. "Shaded": The documentary film “Shaded,” captures a collection of conversations with people of color sharing their first encounters with colorism.
