Black Trans Couple's Affirmation & Survival Fund

UPDATE: Thank you all for the donations so far, they have been able to pay for most of the surgery cost.  Their surgery date has been pushed up however and will now be March 21st which is in two weeks. They must pay the remainder of the surgery fees $1300 and be able to get recovery supplies and support for while
they are unable to work.

We are raising money to support a Black trans mentally ill, neurodivergent couple who have been income insecure ever since they experienced antiblackness and violent hostility from their employers before ultimately being let go.

They have asked to remain anonymous to reduce the potential pushback from said employer, as they have impacted attempts at obtaining support in the past.

At the moment, these folks are surviving on Employment Insurance, which doesn’t cover their bills every month. A top surgery date has been a long time in the waiting and a deposit was finally made. However, they don’t have access to the remaining $4,995.65 needed for the surgery itself. This is a cost that is imperative, and without it they lose not only the $1,000 they’ve already put down, but the opportunity for a surgery date in any stretch of near future.

These funds will help with funding the top surgery cost of $4995.65, and with recovery funds. It will also help support with paying debts that have accumulated while one was in school and the other was unable to work due to mental distress from the previous traumatizing experience of their last employer.

This is a survival fund! It is necessary for these folks lives to be able to get surgery and live comfortably, mentally and physically.

The couple's lease for their apartment will also be up the same month their surgery is, and if they can not extend their lease they would have to move April 1st and their surgery date is at the end of April.

A breakdown of funds raised will look like the following:

Top Surgery: $4,995.65

Recovery

Rent: $2000 (1 month)
Supplies: $1500 (accessibility, mobility, scar care, etc)
=$3500

The remaining funds will go towards therapy, living expenses, possible moving expenses and paying off accumulated credit card debt that was accumulated by school costs, medication and dental costs that they did not have insurance for.

Thank you so much for reading, donating and sharing.
