Black musician needs a laptop

I’m a jazz and fusion musician located on səl̓ilwətaɁɬ təməxʷ, Skwxwú7mesh-ulh Temíx̱w, S’ólh Téméxw, and šxʷməθkʷəy̓əmaɁɬ təməxʷ land. In order to continue working and growing as a musician, I need to be able to create music digitally and use notation software, neither of which work efficiently on the laptop I have right now. Furthermore, my laptop has no working speakers, headphone jack, or microphone.
Upon taking in my computer for a screen replacement last year, I found out that it would be nearly impossible to fix these issues while keeping costs low, and I was recommended to get a new laptop instead. As someone who is in a full course load of around 10 classes per semester (I go to jazz school), having a job isn’t realistic. I have to rely on external support to pay my bills, but the amount I receive per month doesn’t allow for any costs outside of the basic necessities.
I’ve developed an interest in community organizing after working with various grassroots organizations, and having a sufficient way to take notes and attend video conference calls would be greatly beneficial. I also take notes on my computer in my university classes, and the programs we use for coursework require a computer with high processing power.
This gofundme was created so I can afford a laptop I can use to produce my musical ideas. All leftover money will go to the Vancouver Black Therapy & Advocacy Fund, which helps link Black individuals with Black therapists. As someone who lives in this area and has been in therapy since I was young, this fund means a lot to me. Any funds raised after they meet their goal creates more spots for Black folk to apply.
