Black Lives Matter Yakima Support Fund

In the past few weeks communities from Minneapolis to Seattle, from Los Angeles to Atlanta have come together to express their grief and anger at the murder of George Floyd and all that his murder symbolizes with respect to institutionalized, systemic racism in the United States. Over the past 19 days, (as of June 17, 2020) local Yakima youth have organized in response to the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery, Robert Fuller, Doninique Fells, Riah Milton and the thousands of Black people murdered at the hands of racism that courses through the veins of the United States.

Although these tragedies did not occur on Yakama soil, those of us who live in this community and in the United States must do our part to ensure that the racism that enables these murders ends with us. Ends with our children. Ends with the Yakima Police.

This Go Fund Me will be used to directly support the needs of the local movement. This means it will be used to buy water, snacks, poster making supplies, banners, educational materials for the entire community and other needs that may come up.
