Black Eyed Susan Book Awards

Donation protected
Reading is at the heart of everything I do. Now more than ever, students need to engage with and be excited at the prospect of reading a new book. The Black-Eyed Susan Award is a reader's choice award selected from a group of ten novels and graphics novels by diverse authors. They represent new and important stories from all backgrounds and walks of life. Currently students can access copies from our school and local libraries. Once they read 3 selections, they can vote on the recipient of the award. These book copies are limited and in high demand. I would like to make a class set, or more, available in my room for my students to borrow directly from me. Through this award, I will continue to foster the importance of lifelong literacy while partnering with an important program in our county.

Any amount donated will go directly to purchasing these books. One full set costs around $220. Since these novels must be published in the last three years, my usual classroom library method of thrifting books is unlikely to work.

If you would prefer, I have also created an Amazon List of the eligible books to purchase directly for my class library.

Thank you for supporting my classroom and students!
