Growing up, my parents always taught me not to ask others for help because of how they were raised. Thankfully, times have changed and I am fortunate enough to live in a time where I can use social platforms to ask for help. So that is exactly what I am doing by setting up this donation page. \\TW: mention of s*icide// On May 17, 2022, my father took his own life. This meant that my mother had to go back to work in order to support our family & herself. Our focus after my father died, was on financial stability rather than mental stability. Even though she found a job, a heavy burden was still weighing on the family. The stress of everything has now taken its toll on her and on August 3, 2024, she was hospitalized for a life-threatening infection. She was put on a ventilator (life support) within 24 hours of hospitalization and is still on it as of August 8, 2024. Anyone who knows me personally, knows that I have struggled with my mental health for the last 15 years. As a result, I still rely on my mother for support. I am forever grateful for that but now I am in a position where I need to help her and I can’t. I simply do not make enough money just like the majority of the Canadian population. Since my father’s passing, my mental health has been on a downward spiral. This has only been exacerbated by the fact that my grandmother (my father’s mother) died in December of 2023 and I got into a car accident in May of 2024. With all of the stress adding up, I have been trying my hardest to not end up in the psych ward but I’m not sure how much longer I can do so without support. This is why I need help from anyone who can. I am hoping that if I raise enough money, I can help my mother with the rent & food costs until she is able to go back to work herself and possibly pay for immediate therapy since Canada’s mental health services can be unreliable for those in a crisis.
