Drug Drop Box

Donation protected
I lost my only son Bryan to an accidental prescription drug overdose.  His addiction started when he found pain medicine in my very own medicine cabinet.  I blame myself for his death.  It almost ended my life.

After becoming involved with several drug free groups and realizing that the one or two days the DEA has a drug take back program is simply not enough.  After seeing a mailbox in another county's Sheriffs department with the words Drug Drop Off written on the outside I had an idea that might just help.

indianapolis has had more murders and shootings than the Chicago area lately.  What if I ask the Sheriff of Marion County and the Police Departments in our county to put in a drug drop box?

The Marion County Sheriffs Deparment was the first one to step up and agree to purchase a box, have it painted and put instructions on the box and install it in a secure area.  I was so very excited!  The picture above is after only 1 day!

Parents of teens, or grandparents, anyone who has old or unused medicine may drop it in the box, no questions ask.  A mother who found pot and some pills in her sons room made a drop off.

i know this is only a small dent in our drug problem but it's a start.  The Sheriffs Deparment has even offered to place a plaque with my son Bryan's picture and date he lost his addiction with pills placed above the box.

I am beyond grateful and I know Bryan is smiling down and saying good job mom.  If one persons son, sister, brother, mother, anyone can be helped by this Bryan would be so proud and I would be so happy no one elses would live through finding their loved one dead in their bed and trying CPR, while in the back of my head I knew it was to late.  A morning that will haunt me forever.

I miss my son so much sometimes it feels as if my heart will literally rip in half, but by trying to help in some small way is a way I can get up everyday.

Wishtv.com has the story on the website as does drugfreemarionco.org and fox59.com.

Each box is approx. $500.00 per box plus painting.  We would like them all to look alike.  We are trying for 10 boxes for all sides of the city.

Thank you for your consideration.  Be sure to hug your kiddos and loved ones tonight.
