This is Bandit. He's two years old. And he's sweeter than anyone else ever. Bandit desperately wants to say hello to everyone he meets. And he won't tolerate swearing, alternately greeting each bad word with comforting face licks or a determined, scornful stare, depending on the context.
My wife and I love him soooo much. He occupies the brightest spot near the center of our universe.
Just about two weeks ago Bandit stepped on something outside our San Francisco home and now he's suffering from a severe case of Tetanus. The progress of the disease has been hard to watch and the treatment expensive, but we've been told the prognosis is good as long as there are no complications during the rough patch. He's been in the hospital now for over a week and we continue to believe he will make a full recovery, if only we can afford to keep him alive and comfortable in the meantime. The problem is that we don't know exactly how long that will be and each day adds significant expense.
This dog is practically still a puppy and deserves every chance to survive. But it's getting hard to keep faith that our ability to pay will outlast his need for medical support. Even worse, it's just a matter of a few days, as we expect the worst part to have run its course within the next week or so.
This isn't cancer or another terminal disease that Bandit may or may not survive even if he gets through the hospitalization. We have every reason to believe he will survive with a quality of life similar to before the incident, Bandit just needs to make it to check out day.
We need any help we can get as soon as we can get it. The most important part is keeping Bandit comfortable through this and the drugs to do that are very expensive. And we just don't know how many more days he'll need them.
Two is to young to die. Bandit is just a teenager in dog years. He deserves to live out the rest of his life. Please help him. He'll owe you a lifetime of face licks. And I'll be forever grateful. You will be saving a truly beautiful soul.
