We are creating this campaign on behalf of our good friend Cody and his fiance Carly
Now Cody has had a rough time after a rough upbringing and dealing with the double whammy of being right in the middle of the 22nd of February 2011 Earthquake in Christchurch and unfortunately bearing witness to the aftermath of the Al Noor Mosque attacks due to the proximity of where they were studying at the time.
Due to all this they suffer from Anxiety, Depression and PTSD as well as Chronic Insomnia which have all only developed since the earthquakes. Now all of these are individually treatable with time and support but added up it's getting to be impossible to do so in his current environment, therefore we want to help create a new and more mentally healthy life for him and help him accomplish a dream he has been wanting for years.
For this we want to send him to the love of his life, who lives in Alabama in the United States of America. The home there is surrounded by nature and national parks and is far away from any major fault lines that are active. We believe this will greatly help with his PTSD, Insomnia, Anxiety and Depression; and to help him start to build a new, and much happier, life that he truly deserves with his long distance partner of over five years.
To tell you a bit more about Cody; he's an amazing guy and has always cared for others and is genuinely one of the nicest people we know, he always puts other people before him and he's an amazing person to be around. And life has been unfair to him in that it just seems to keep throwing curve balls and extra hurdles for him to go through After everything he's been through and all that he's had to pay for, he lives off a benefit that barely covers weekly rent and food expenses, but he is still saving and keeping up an active social life within communities here in Christchurch and is quite a creative fellow when given the means to create.
But due to his Anxiety, PTSD, Depression and Insomnia he barely functions yet he is so strong that he can put a smile on and go out into the world when it absolutely sucks and we're sure he'd rather do nothing but stay at home and shut himself off. But he doesn’t, and he actively tries to make it out and also take care of his friends. Which to me is incredible and absolutely mind blowing.
So, we want to use these funds to give him the most stress free as possible visa transition to America for him to help build a new life and to love and take care of his love, who themselves deal with even more major medical issues and know he is working hard to learn and study to take care of their needs: Fibromyalgia, EDS Type III (Hyper-mobility), dysautonomia, as well as an auto-immune disease.
I know he has quite the heart of gold and would use the funds in a responsible manner.
For those wondering, the full cost of this will all come to around $6500USD.

2025 for visa application government fees
600 for return flights and costs for the US embassy up in Auckland
735 for assorted legal paperwork (extra birth certificates and the like) 1200 for flights to the
US 2200 for moving costs and in state applications
