Help Andy Fight Cancer!

Donation protected
As most of you know, after months of doctors believing he had pneumonia, our Dad, Andy Chersin, was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. This very unexpected and heart wrenching news was dropped on our family seven months ago on January 21st (which also happened to be our brother Caleb’s 21st birthday). The doctors say the cancer is inoperable and incurable. They give him only 18 to 24 months to live, even with chemotherapy.

But with God, we know all things are possible. Opting to take an alternative route rather than just traditional chemotherapy (since the doctors didn’t give traditional medicine much of a chance to help), Dad has now been to a leading alternative cancer treatment clinic in Tijuana, Mexico. At Oasis of Hope, they use integrative programs that incorporate conventional treatments with non-toxic natural therapies. The survival rate for patients is much higher than with traditional chemo. He has been there for three rounds of treatments and he has responded very well. Testing done after the first 3 months of treatment showed the tumors shrinking, one was completely gone, the tumor activity cut in half, and the tumors were creating little to no fluid. He was able to walk a mile a day without any breathing problems! The doctors there are very encouraged by his progress. He has had a set back this month though. A small spot shows on his liver and 2 lymph nodes are enlarged and a small amount of fluid is showing around his lung. He is still marching forward. He is still breathing well.

As some of you might have guessed, most of his stay and treatments at Oasis are not covered by insurance, leaving the bulk of medical expenses to be paid out-of-pocket. Our dad has been unable to work for the past seven months and will be losing his short term disability on August 2nd, as well as, some medical insurance coverage. Every donation received will be going to medical bills, medications, supplements, his strict diet, and ongoing treatments. Our goal is to raise the money needed to alleviate the financial burden of fighting cancer and Dad not being able to work.

Our dad is only 54; he has been married to our precious mom for 31 years. He has been smitten with her and wanted to marry her since the first time they met in the 7th grade. She has been a wonderful example of faithfulness and servant hood, especially during this trying time. He is much loved by his 5 kids who are desperately praying for his healing. Our dad has been a wonderful example through this trial of trusting in the faithfulness, goodness, and sovereignty of God. Dad’s motto is, “Get up every day and kill cancer.” He wants to beat cancer, gain back his health and strength, and go back to work so he can continue to provide for his family. He is looking forward to being a part of our lives for years to come, and most of all he wants God to get all the glory and to be a testimony of His goodness and faithfulness.

If donating is something you feel led to do, our family would be forever grateful. Prayer is always much appreciated!

To those of you who have already blessed us with prayer, notes of encouragement, food, and financial support…we are so THANKFUL. We trust and are praying that God will provide for every need. Thank-you so much!
