In the days following the tournament she became progressively worse. An MRI showed Dee-Dee had suffered a stroke from a bleed on the brain (paralysis down the right side of her body). She was admitted to Buderim hospital however over the next week her symptoms continued to worsen. Following another MRI it was revealed the bleed had not stopped. She was moved to the Neuroscience unit at St Andrews in Brisbane and the Neurosurgeons agreed surgery was the only option.
She underwent brain surgery yesterday (19 December), and is now resting and healing in ICU, and is expected to be back in the ward over the next few days.
So very many people have offered to help:and in Buzza's words:
As u all know, a very special lady is currently going through some really serious, f%#king crazy health stuff at the moment...
Dee-Dee is going through the most challenging time of her life:
I thank you all so much for all your support... I'm so proud to be a part of such a sincerely caring community of totally awesome people...
Hey, there have been so many offers of help, and I am hoping to take u up on this!!
Guys, in the spirit of Christmas, the spirit of friendship and derby, I am asking if you would consider financially contributing to Dee-Dee's operations and medical bills... As you could imagine, neuro surgery doesn't come cheap!
I know this is one way people can really offer some practical help that would take a bit of pressure off....
Any amount you can throw in, would be so appreciated....it all counts and adds up....
So what do you reckon?? I know what I'm doing...
Dee-Dee (Cecilia) is so special to so many people and communities (Derby, Skydiving, Family & Friends):...how many times has she opened her heart and her home to friends, visiting coaches and teams....worked with and supported other Leagues and people:
Please remember, no amount is too small:especially when it is given from the heart:
Please help us support our beautiful Prez Dee-Dee and her partner Ryan (Joorj)
