Jenn's leg surgery

Donation protected

As most of you know, I broke my leg last Sunday 7/7/14.  I went to the emergency room and was given numerous xrays and was told that I had a pretty severe break and to follow up with an orthopedic surgeon.
The next day, I called the surgeon and could not get an appointment until today (7/14/14)  The Surgeon told me to follow up with my Primary and my primary was shocked I was told to wait so long and told me to go to a different hospital.  So I went to another emergency room, this time at RWJ in Hamilton.

I'm now up to 2 hospital bills with no insurance.

I was told at RWJ that I simply needed a cast. Which was a relief, finanacially and emotionally. And that I had to wait a week so the swelling would go down.

Today I went to the Orthopedic Surgeon to get my cast and when he took my brace off we all gasped.  My leg was swollen and purple.  They xrayed it again and it is broken in two places on my ankle and above my ankle.  And my ligaments are torn in my foot.  I need surgery, a plate to be placed in my leg to hold my ankle together.  To make payments is one thing, I also will need to cover days off and lord knows what my hospital bills are going to pile up to be.  This amount is just the icing on the cake so to speak.  The surgery itself is over $30,000 I was told.  I'm trying to get at least $5000 to put a dent into this.  The original down payment for me to even walk in the door was $5000.  They have agreed to let me pay that AFTER the surgery but again, I don't know how I'm going to even put a dent into this on my own.  That is not counting the hospital visits, the orthopedic surgeon, the physical therapy and everything else that goes along with this.

I am self employed.  I do not have insurance, I do not get sick days, if I do not work, I do not make money.  I am extremely worried not only about the hospital bills, but about missing time for physical therapy and money for prescriptions and medical supplies.

I have applied for Charity care, and was told that even if I do get it, it will not cover anything but the physical surgery.  It will not cover the 2 hospital visits, the othropedic surgeon visit, the physical therapy or anything else.  Without this surgery, I may not walk right again.  I am not able to get medical insurance until November of this year, which is not helping at all at the moment.  The medical bills are piling up and so is my level of stress. The days I need to take off are becoming greater.  I can make payments, but without working, I'm not sure how I'm going to make these payments.

I need help and I am humbly asking anyone to please contribute what you can to help me get this surgery.  Many people who know me know that it really takes a lot for me to ask for things.

I have a 6 year old wonderful son and I'm worried about us losing our home/ how I am going to be able to care for him.  Please help, thank you!
