***BIG NEWS & UPDATE TO CAMPAIGN***
Thank you for viewing our page! Hood's Martial Arts Academy is a martial arts school dedicated to fostering positive attitudes and community while practicing self-defense and discipline. Students at our school love the learning environment. We have successfully entered into a lease at another location. We have our own place! A place to call "home"! Expanding requires some 'up-front' money to pay for things like: mats/flooring, striking surfaces (punching bags and the like), mirrors, etc. Everything you contribute to this fund will go directly to help this process. Every amount, no matter the size, will have a positive impact on the individuals that train with us, as well as the surrounding communities. The generous contributions will also allow us to offer 'scholarship-type' opportunities for those that would benefit from martial arts, but may not have the means to pay for gear, uniform, classes, etc. At Hood's Martial Arts Academy, we want everyone to have the chance to try martial arts, no matter his/her circumstances.
About us: Hood's Martial Arts Academy (formerly Dragon Fist Kung Fu and Tai Chi) has been in the Salem area since 2007. We practice a Hawaiian, street-focused martial art called Kajukenbo Tum Pai. While developed in Hawaii, it actually consists of several martial arts from around the world, attempting to make a complete system useful in all situations. We also offer Tai Chi classes which help to improve breathing, balance, and general well-being. Tai Chi is a martial art well-suited for all ages and body-types. In addition to fitness and healthy living, we also look at Tai Chi from the perspective of self-defense.
