Bitter: 8ULENTINA

Donation protected

We’re starting a new club night in Glasgow for self-identifying women and non-binary people. Our first guest will be 8ULENTINA, a non-binary DJ and producer from Oakland who is a co-founder of Club Chai (soundcloud.com/8ulentina ) and it will take place on Saturday 21st September.

To make it as financially accessible as possible we want it to be free on the door to all; this is a crowdfunder to cover the costs and make that possible.

The costs are: venue hire, DJ fees, equipment hire, PR, totalling £800. The hope is to raise £1060 to also have an open, but limited, pot of money to support people attending with childcare and transport costs.

If you would normally pay to attend a club night and are currently financially able to, we recommend a donation of anything in the region of £5-10. Feel free to give more! If you are not able to attend but are in a position to donate and want to support a club space where non-binary people and women's comfort and safety is being prioritised then your donation is hugely appreciated. The intention is to run these events regularly if this initial one gets enough support.

Giving to the crowdfunder does not guarantee entry, rather it is a donation to make the party happen. The party starts early and runs from 10pm - 1am, so if you’re down early you’ll get in!

If the crowdfunder doesn't cover all the costs there will be a subsidised cost on the door but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. If the crowdfunder covers the basic costs but doesn’t reach the target then transport and childcare will be forgone. If the crowdfunder makes more money than is needed, that money would go towards a future event. All outcomes will be made public.

The first party is happening at The Savings Bank. It is a ground floor venue that is wheelchair accessible. There is a balcony area up 18 steps that is not accessible, however the party will be happening in the main space. There are chairs available for people who will need to sit down. We will provide earplugs. All staff working and performing at these events will be self-identifying women and non-binary people. The women and non-binary door policy won’t be enforced, it’s self policing, therefore anyone who feels welcome, is welcome!

The intention is to create a space that is welcoming and accessible to people who may not typically experience club spaces that way so we’re grateful for any feedback about the night or ideas to improve.
