Help Lewis have a better life

A few weeks ago our beautiful son Lewis was diagnosed as having severe anxiety as well as having autism on the severe end of the spectrum.
We have had to overcome our pride to set up this funding appeal. We only do so, because we are unable to afford what Lewis needs without help and we cannot bear the thought of our son being lost in his autism for a lack of funds.
Lewis has had a very difficult journey since his birth. He was diagnosed at a few months of age with reflux and multiple food protein intolerances. He still has gastro-intestinal issues as well as recurrent ear and throat infections. Due to his sensory issues and gastro-intestinal issues, he receives most of his nutrition via a specialised prescription amino acid formula.
Lewis’ anxiety as well as his autism, prevents him from enjoying life. He is unable to speak more than a few single words, he is delayed developmentally. He cannot attend play group or kinder or have friends come for play dates. He screams and screams if taken anywhere but a few safe places and cannot tolerate anyone new in the home environment. We were given a grim diagnosis for his future development.
For the past few weeks, we have researched all therapies available for children on the autism spectrum. We wanted a therapy that would enable us to reach our child and help him open up to the world around him. We have spoken to families who have children on the spectrum and we have read the available medical literature. We think that the The Son-Rise Program® (see below) is the program that will help our son achieve his potential. We believe this program will help us reach the loving, caring and bright little boy who is currently locked in his own world. It is a message of hope and love. It has helped many children grow up leading basically normal lives. Please take a moment to watch the videos below about how successful the program is. This is what we want for our son.
We estimate that we need at least AU$30,000 to $50,000 to establish and run the program for the first few years. This includes my husband going to the USA to be trained and eventually taking Lewis to the USA. It includes setting up a specialised therapy room, recruiting and training volunteers , and the costs associated with having trained professionals come to our house to implement the program.
We understand fully that not everyone is able to donate in these difficult financial times. We ask that, if you are able, you can share our story with your contacts, link to our story on Facebook, speak to your local schools and charitable organisations to help us raise some funds. You may also know people who are able to help us by helping defray the costs of airline fares, hotels, or can donate items to be sold for fundraising.
