Biscuit's medical care

Biscuit is a magic cat. He helps everybody. He's a tripod, having lost a front leg when he was a little kitten. Hasn't slowed him down one iota. 

He has been diagnosed with FIP - Feline Infectious Peritonitis. Up until recently, it’s been 100 percent fatal. But a doctor at UCDavis ran an extensive study on a drug related to Remdesivir, and it was wildly successful. Guess so, since FIP is caused by a coronavirus that mutates into FIP.

Biscuit has started on the treatment. It’s expensive, not the least because it’s not been approved for veterinary use by the FDA. And I’ve already spent $9,000 just getting to the diagnosis.

Last November, he started throwing up. And then he stopped eating. Off to the emergency vet, where an ultrasound found a mass in his intenstine. 

At first we thought it was cancer, but after several days in the hospital - and emergency surgery to remove the mass - we found out it wasn’t. He came home after surgery and was doing well, then he threw up again and a trip back to the ER saw another spot on his intestines. And the biopsy on the mass from the surgery came back. FIP.

I’m hooked up with an amazing group of people to help me get through this treatment, and it’s brutal. 84 days of injections, one every day, and then 84 days of observation, plus regular blood tests and, for Bisc anyway, ultrasounds. The drug is highly acidic and stings, and every injection hurts both of us. Biscuit is a trooper though. I guess there’s a really good reason the FIP group calls FIP cats warriors.

Y’all helped so much when Tag had blastomycosis, so I’m asking again. I’ve only put the $9k I’ve spent already on here, and of course I don’t expect you to pay it all. Just some help. I’m expecting the treatment will run $2,500 to $3,500 more.
