Bimini Community Gardens

COMMUNITY GARDENS COMING TO BIMINI

We are excited to announce that Bimini Bay HOA employees and Bimini Sands HOA employees, along with employees from KW Property Management, are volunteering their time and working with 5 local churches in Bimini to assist them with building community gardens for the members of their church.

This Community Garden project is the brainchild of Evan Rees, Senior Vice President of Commercial Banking for SunTrust Bank in Miami. With the assistance of Pastor Guido Rolle of Bimini's Gateway Church, we are all working together to provide soil, seeds and supplies to the local churches and schools in order for them to be successful gardeners.

Mr. Rees has been very successful with assisting churches in Abaco with their community gardens. He is now assisting churches in Bimini to not only feed their members with healthy food but to strengthen the church membership and serve as an outreach program to reconnect the people of Bimini to their agriculture roots.

The estimated cost for the 5 churches community gardens is $7,000. This includes soil, seeds, trays, lumber and roof flashing.  This cost may increase if we are unable to secure a shipping sponsor to get the soil and lumber from Miami to Bimini.

The planting of the seeds in Bimini will be the weekend of October 5 - 7, 2018.
