Coach Smith's Retirement Gift Fund
Donation protected
After 17 years, one of the best friends collegiate, junior, smallbore, air and all around marksmanship sports has ever had is retiring!
In June, Coach William C. Smith of the Citadel is handing over the keys to the range.
As a testament of our esteem, gratitude, love and a way to FINALLY say thank you to a man who always answers, "For what? I didn't do anything," please help us fund-raise $6000 to purchase Coach a new piece of sporting equipment for himself to enjoy. Any additional monies raised will be converted into gift cards to Outback Steakhouse, so Coach Smith can start catching up on 17 years of missed during-the-school-year date nights with Carla.
The "us" is all of us who have been helped, coached, mentored, advised, encouraged, loaned equipment, shot at a SoCon or SEARC match hosted at the Citadel, or sent to the Junior Olympics by Coach Smith.
The dedication is tentatively scheduled to take place during the NCAA Championships weekend on March 8-11, 2018. To the degree that a group effort involving so many whose lives Coach Smith has touched can be, we're trying to keep this a surprise. We fear his irritatingly humble nature may prove an obstacle if he discovers our intent.
The sporting equipment design and purchase is being handled by Citadel Assistant Coach David Joyner and Citadel Alumna Amber Mills, and the gift card transactions are being administered by Citadel Assistant Coach Abi Winegarden and former Assistant Coach Sandra Worman.
