Bill's Journey to Recovery

Our brother, Bill Carey, was severely bitten by a dog on his face on Oct. 26th. The majority of his nose was detached from his face. He was taken by ambulance from Ellsworth to Mass. General where a surgeon awaited to try to reattach and save his nose. He also stitched up several deep lacerations to both eyes and cheek. He's lucky he didn't lose his sight. Unfortunately
his nose was unable to be saved. He has just completed the first of many surgeries which will span at least a year and are required to put his face back together.
         While insurance should pay for his medical bills, there are MANY other costs that Bill and Dennis will struggle with. It's unclear as to when Bill will be able to return to work. Dennis will be taking a lot of time off work to transport Bill to any procedures in Boston. As if hotels, gas, meals and loss of income weren't enough, their truck broke down in Augusta yesterday on the way home from his latest surgery.
         Many of you know my brother. He's a happy, friendly, caring, funny, compassionate, hardworking man who would, and has, given the clothes off his back to anyone or animal in need. He makes the world a better place and it breaks our hearts to see him become increasingly more depressed with each incidence
of bad luck.
         So many of you have asked how you can help, so we, his sisters, are starting this Gofundme page in hopes of alleviating the financial stress so Bill can concentrate on healing and keeping his spirits up for whatever may be necessary for his rehabilitation.
