Update 10/8/17
William T. "Bill" Britt, heartfelt singer, empathetic songwriter, and versatile, tasteful musician, has left this life, departing September 28, 2017 in the loving presence of family, mere weeks after a Leukemia diagnosis, at the age of 47. Son of Patricia Byrne Britt and William P. Britt (deceased), Bill grew up on the Northwest Side of Chicago, IL, attending St. Hilary grammar school, Notre Dame High School, and Columbia College, going on to a varied professional career in development and marketing, primarily in the nonprofit sector. Starting as a youth, Bill focused his ample and notably productive creative energies foremost upon his musical interests, in the pursuit of which, in recent years, he was often joined by his loving and beloved wife Stacy Dean Britt. From frontman of his own musical outfits, to sideman in many an ensemble - prized therein for his exquisitely requisite additions to a group's dynamic - Bill's endeavors into music are truly too numerous to list here. Adored and admired by family and friends for his sincerity, intelligence, wit, kindness, thoughtful insight, humor, and unassailable smile, Bill was a steadfast ally to loved ones, exhibiting the same unwavering character and offering the same considerate support in their worst times as in their best. Known to have once made a slightly better-known Chicago funnyman, Bill Murray, laugh - and to have brought countless others incalculable comic relief time & time again - Bill Britt possessed the affability of a proud uncle (which he was) combined with the effortless timing of a born performer. Those who didn't know Bill Britt really missed out. Those who did shall ever miss him dearly. In addition to his wife Stacy and the objects of their deepest affection, their two children Clarissa Dean and Daschle Britt, Bill is survived by his mother Patricia, as well as his sisters Anne (John) Britt-Swanson, Kathleen Britt Sobczyk, and Malke Bornstein, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. We are here to raise money and HELP Bill Britt, our dear and loving son, brother, husband, cousin, father, and totally awesome friend during his life-threatening battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Bill is a writer, musician, master of all things database, and an all-round good guy. He has spent a big part of his professional career in development, raising funds for worthy non-profit groups, and now it's our turn to offer him whatever support we can.

Out of what seems like nowhere, Bill was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia at the beginning of August and was immediately hospitalized for treatment. Initially, Bill was to receive aggressive treatment in the hospital and be home by the beginning of September to continue chemo and plan for a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, his initial round of chemotherapy was unsuccessful and his condition quickly became grave as he developed life-threatening complications and infections that have taken priority over treating his cancer.

His infections led him to be intubated, sedated, and moved to intensive care. He has since been moved from the full ventilator tube to a tracheotomy but is primarily kept sedated so he can work to overcome his pneumonia. Bill absolutely has to regain his strength so he can continue the fight against this aggressive form of leukemia and there is not a lot of time!

Bill’s extended stay in the hospital has caused his family to lose a substantial source of income and the medical bills and expenses are piling up. Because of his critical condition, it’s very important that he has his family advocating at his bedside. His wife Stacy has been a true champion, functioning on little sleep while she stays at his bedside, cares for their two children, Claire and Dashel, and somehow manages to work so she can maintain what income they have left.

Please help support Bill and his family in this fight for life. All funds raised will be managed by Stacy Dean-Britt and go directly towards medical expenses and support for the kiddos.

Bill attended St. Hillary grammar school, Notre Dame high school, and has a Fiction Writing degree from Columbia College Chicago, where he also served as Director of Advancement Services for several years.

We will keep this page updated with Bill's status, and will leave you with a brilliant joke Bill wrote shortly after his diagnosis:
"Knock-knock.
        who's there?
 Leukemia.
        oh fuck."

On behalf of the Britts, THANK YOU!
