Bill Hohler’s Medical Battle

Donation protected

Hello everyone. For starters, my name is Justin, I’m Bill’s stepson.
As many of you know, Bill has had a tumultuous last few years and is facing a wave of medical bills that few of us would be prepared to handle, even under good circumstances.

Beginning in 2018, Bill was laid off from his job. Soldiering on, he moved past the unexpected lay off and began a new career in real estate.
In the summer of 2019, the peak time of year for real estate, Bill began to have a series of issues with his kidney function. Drained of energy while watching the medical bills stack higher and higher, Bill had no choice but to focus on his health and miss out on his main source of income for the year. Less than ten months after recovery from his kidney stones, positive and strong-willed as always, Bill began to lose his strength again.

His low energy, difficulty sleeping, and abdominal pain occurred again during the peak of real estate season. A silver lining, if it can be considered that, his biopsy result came back “clear/normal”. The news was warmly welcomed but also means further tests, labs and imaging in his future while they rule out an inflammatory disease, infection or low grade (very slow developing) lymphoma. Weathering the financial storm for one year was doable, but three years back to back is enough to put most people past the point of no return. Not Bill. To this day he has continued to fight, stay optimistic, and plan for a way forward rather than throwing in the towel. In classic Bill fashion, he is marshaling on and looking for solutions rather than excuses and pity.Knowing his dedication to remaining strong and independent, he has abstained from asking anyone for help, opting instead to shoulder yet another financial burden himself.

With the kind of positive impact Bill has had on all of us, regardless of his own battles, it's only fair that we return the favor. We have chosen to ask family, friends, and other members of the community to share this fundraiser and contribute whatever they can so that we, together, can take part of that load off of his shoulders.

A parting thought to reflect on when considering contributing. In the words of Albert Einstein, “Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile."
