Bill's Cancer Fund

Donation protected
Update: March 27th
As a result of his pulmonary embolisms that he suffered earlier this month, Bill's surgery date has been pushed back to June/July.  Unfortunately, this also means 3 more months of chemo. This is NOT the news we expected at his final pre-surgery evaluation this week but he will get through it! The love and support that all of you have shown to him is amazing. THANK YOU so much on behalf of Bill and Terri for your extremely generous donations and kind messages. It makes setbacks like the one this week a little more tolerable knowing so may people are pulling for him.

Hello friends and family. I'm Rob Bader and I'm setting up this Go Fund Me page for my brother, Bill Bader.

As some of you know, Bill was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer) on January 25th. Since then, Bill has been sent to 4 different hospitals where he's had 3 ultrasounds, 4 CT scans, 2 MRI's, 2 endoscopic biopsies, 2 stent placements, 3 chemo treatments an episode of pancreatitis and most recently a 3-day hospital visit as a result of blood clotting in his lungs brought on by the Chemo. Needless to say, it's been a tough few weeks for Bill! Of course, Bill has made friends with every medical person along the way and keeps his nurses up around the clock telling stories and sharing his humorous version of his life experience. I'm sure you'd agree that not too many people can tell a more captivating version of a story than Bill!

Currently, Bill is recovering from his final round of chemo and preparing for the next big chapter in his cancer story. On April 4th, Bill will undergo a major medical procedure called the Whipple Procedure. This  consists of the total or partial removal of the stomach, duodenum, pancreas, bile duct, gallbladder and lymph nodes.  As you can imagine, this will keep Bill in the hospital for about 2 weeks before he is sent home for several months of recovery. We are optimistic that this surgery will lead to his cancer cure and he can return to being the fun-loving, story telling, friend, brother, husband, uncle and son that he is so good at!

So how can you help? As you can imagine, all of the medical procedures and time off from work contributes to financial strain for anyone. I am setting up this Go Fund Me as a way to help alleviate some of the added financial pressure that is brought on with this type of diagnosis. Any funds raised will offset medical expenses and provide both Bill and Terri some added financial comfort. It's not easy for anyone to be dealing with this diagnosis but many of you have asked about ways to help. So.....here it is!!

Thank you in advance for your donations and thank you for reading about Bill's cancer story.
