Bill and Mary - Together Again

Donation protected
In 1956, William Roger Hanson was honorably serving his country in the United States Navy when he was with friends at a stoplight in Richfield, MN. He looked over and saw a young lady, Mary Rita Kanthak, in the car next to him. They glanced at each other as the vehicles pulled away. Bill had his buddy chase down Mary’s vehicle so he could meet her. And the rest, as they say, is history. They were inseparable.

They lived iin Richfield after they married in 1965 until 1975 when they built a house in Bloomington.  In 1968, Lisa was born. Seven years later, their son John came along. They continued to live in their Bloomington home and Bill worked as a blackjack dealer at Mystic Lake while Mary was a personal stylist at Macy’s.

In 2009, Mary was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Bill took care of her for years, until 2015, when he made the difficult decision to place her in the Masonic Home, after his bypass surgery. In order to continue to have specialists provide care for Mary, Bill continued to work, even as he was diagnosed with Esophageal cancer in October 2017. Despite his illness, Bill visited Mary every night at the Home, after work. Next year, Bill would have celebrated 25 years at Mystic Lake.

On May 16, 2018, Mary, after fighting a long and courageous battle, met our Lord and Savior. Not quite 24 hours later, Bill, realizing he could be with Mary again, passed away peacefully at the hospital. They are being buried together on what would have been their 53rd wedding anniversary. Lisa and John are blessed to know that their parents are together again, without pain and at peace, in the arms of God.

We have created this donation page to help offset the funeral, hospital and care home expenses. Bill and Mary were selfless and giving and loved one another until the end. All prayers and any contributions are greatly appreciated.
